The 61st Annual Shreveport Symphony Nena Wideman International Piano Competition will take place Friday, December 2, through Sunday, December 4, in the Anderson Auditorium of the Hurley School of Music, located on the Centenary College campus. The event is free and open to the public with donations accepted at the door. Forty-three contestants, ranging in [...] 30 artists representing a cross section of talent that creates, shows and sells art in the historic Highland neighborhood of Shreveport will be part of the official kickoff of the state of Louisiana’s newest Cultural District. Tuesday, November 29 at 11 am, Gaye Hamilton, the Manager at the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, [...] The best local and national musicians will converge on Columbia Park on Saturday, November 19th from 12pm to 5pm for Shreveport’s “party in the park”, the Highland Jazz and Blues Festival. The famous Preservation Hall Jazz Band is the headliner this year, along with Buddy Flett, Jazziana, David Egan, Fannin Street Players with Danny Wilder, Stiff Necked [...] Now that the weather has cooled down it’s time for another HRA neighborhood cleanup! Our next cleanup will be held Saturday, November 5th from 8am to 11am. We will meet at the Columbia Park parking lot, which is located at 600 Columbia St. We’ll provide gloves, trash bags, and trash grabbers for volunteers to use [...] The HRA Holiday Tour of Homes is just a few short weeks away! This year’s tour will be held Saturday, December 10th from 5:00pm to 9:00pm and Sunday, December 11th from 1:00pm to 5:00pm.
