March 20 is the date for this year’s Big Event by Centenary College. The Big Event
originated at Texas A&M 27 years ago and was adopted by Centenary in 2008. The BIG Event is a student-led, large scale day of service, which unites Centenary with its surrounding neighbors in Highland to build relationships, express gratitude, and enhance the community that has supported the college for over one-hundred years. Volunteers have the opportunity to choose from several different activities in the categories of exterior home improvement, basic landscaping and inside service. In the past two years, the Big Event has had 600 volunteers who put in 2400 hours of service and $16,380 worth of impact to the Highland neighborhood. Any resident of Highland may apply for the help.
